To advance global public health, we engage with stakeholders to support the research, development and evaluation of novel vaccines targeting infectious diseases. Our commitment extends across the entire vaccine life cycle, by ensuring the quality, safety and efficacy from distribution to regulatory oversight, thereby strengthening vaccine confidence through effective communication with healthcare professionals and the general public.
To accomplish our mission, we engage in a number of activities, which are grouped into six strategic areas:
- invest in and consolidate vaccine regulatory expertise throughout product life cycle;
- facilitate an enabling environment for vaccine clinical trials;
- support vaccine development, production and distribution activities;
- develop targeted information, education and communication activities for the general public and health professionals on the quality, safety and efficacy of vaccines;
- support vaccinovigilance activities;
- develop and strengthen collaboration at national, European and international level.
Vaccines Steering Committee
A Steering Committee provides independent advice to the Spearhead Vaccines regarding the most optimal strategies to follow and key priorities to focus on. The Steering Committee is comprised of a Scientific Secretariat, representing all FAMHP departments in charge of vaccines, and external experts of national and regional governments, academia and research institutes, regional organisations and pharmaceutical industry. The Steering Committee meets every three months.
