Following the award of a new public contract, BNP Paribas Fortis will take over the federal government’s public bank accounts from bpost during the weekend of 13 and14 December 2025.
Our organisation, in close collaboration with the FPS Finance (project coordinator), has made every effort to ensure that this transition runs as smoothly as possible and that service continuity is fully maintained.
However, there are a few important points to keep in mind.
- The account numbers (IBAN) of all public accounts will remain unchanged. You can recognise these accounts by the digits 679, which always appear in the 5th, 6th and 7th positions, for example: BEXX 679X XXXX XXXX.
- As of 15 December 2025, please make sure to use the BIC code of BNP Paribas Fortis (GEBABEBB) for international payments. Companies using accounting software that automatically completes the BIC code are therefore advised to update this information in due time.
